CCV Guitar 1 this summer ..

I will once again be teaching Guitar 1 at CCV Winooski (VT) this summer .. this is a great (and fun!) class for beginners as well as for more experienced players who want to brush up on fundamentals .. earn 3 college credits this summer .. the course runs for 12 weeks starting on Tuesday 5/21 and meets each Tuesday from 5:30-9pm.. info and registration at www.ccv.edu ..

Guitar 1 Essential Objectives:
The successful student will be able to:
1. Develop and maintain a regular musical practice.
2. Develop and apply basic plectrum (pick) and fingerpicking techniques.
3. Sight-read simple melodies and apply open chord shapes and rhythms.
4. Play pieces in a variety of styles which may include: folk, blues, rock, classical and reggae.
5. Discuss basic music theory and notation as it relates to the guitar, including chord symbols and guitar tablature.
6. Listen to and analyze a variety of guitar players and styles.
